Social Services Committee Goals

The Moccasin Lake Foundation Social Services Committee provides funding to help safeguard the well-being of vulnerable people. To help guide us in reviewing grant requests, we look for programs that support the five pillars of a safe and stable life:

  • Food

  • Shelter

  • Essential Needs

  • Safety and Recovery from domestic abuse and sexual assault

  • Addiction Care

We recognize that especially today there is great need throughout the community, and although we would ideally be able to fund all requests, preference will be given to requests that address one of the above five pillars, and fulfill the following grant request guidelines:

Additional Guidelines for Grant Request

Geography: Service provided in the King, Pierce, Snohomish, Yakima, and Okanogan Counties of Washington State.

Giving Frequency: We ask that applicants do not request grants if they have received other grants from the Moccasin Lake Foundation within the last year.

Grant Size: Barring exceptional circumstances, we prefer that grant requests be made for no more than 10% of an organization’s annual budget.

Grant Use: Although we appreciate the increased strain on all organizations due to the COVID19 pandemic, requests for specific program support is highly preferred over requests for assistance for administrative or general operating costs.

Requested Information

To help us better understand your goals for your specific request, we would like to know a bit more about how you gauge your success for the related program or service to which the grant money is to be applied. Please also provide us with an example of a time where your organization failed to meet its goals, and how you would differently approach the situation to succeed.

In addition to information about your organization’s history, operating costs, and the demographics of people who use your services, we also ask that you provide some examples of recent successes achieved by your programs.

Whether those examples take the form of testimonials, data tables, or something else we leave up to you; we’re most interested in seeing your description of the program and definition of success in whatever form it might take.

If we do choose to support your organization, we ask that you report back to us , at the appropriate time, on the outcome of your efforts, along with confirmation of use of granted funds for the intended purpose.
